Hello, @francoisjacquet it's 2 years now with RosarioSIS, in the main dashboard on the left it shows the year 2019-2020, so I should change it every time I login into 2020-2021, I need to make the default year this year, so 2020-2021 . Please tell me how?

The solution to this problem is given after you proceed to Rollover.
That is, edit the $DefaultSyear variable in your config.inc.php.

Is there a reason why $DefaultSyear is in the config file and not in the database itself with an option to be changed by the Administrator?

This is like this historically, since Centre/SIS.

I have checked openSIS, they still do like that (the Rollover program rewrites the config.inc.php file with the new school year): https://github.com/OS4ED/openSIS-Classic/search?q=%24DefaultSyear

I have tried, a long time ago, to move it to DB (as having the school year inside the config.inc.php file obviously adds friction), but as I remember, I had faced some errors and behavior I was not able to fix.

That being said, the modification is quite easy to achieve. Please see by yourself and if you achieve something usable, please share it

I may have an avenue which consists in putting the $DefaultSyear into session, only once on session creation.

This way, when the $DefaultSyear is edited, this does not wreck the user session, and user browsing can be pursued safely.

Now, next step should be:

Offer to automatically change default school year after Rollover.

That is, if the config.inc.php file is writable, edit the $DefaultSyear variable.

RosarioSIS v11.7 will offer the possibility to update the default school year:

Update the default school year to the next one from the School > Rollover program, once the current school year has ended.

Still, only if the config.inc.php file is writable.
