Hello, I have been stumped by this issue for months now. I have setup my grading scale, courses, and everything exactly the way it is in the demo and I still have this problem. When I enter grades for students they calculate correctly, however the GPA is completely wrong (kind of). It is calculating correctly but it is doing it out of 16 not 4. I cannot figure out why.
A student I entered has a 100% in the class which should be a 4.0 GPA, however, on the report card it shows 16.0/4.0. Any ideas why? It does this for all scales.
Hello sfalketrinity
Please post screenshots of your school information, grading scales ("+" tab), final grades and the report card.
Oh, also the grades list for the grading scale please.
I don't know if it helps or not but it also calculates this way if I change Semester 1 to graded too and only complete final grade for that marking period.
I found the issue, although I am unsure as to why the anomaly is occurring. When I opened the SQL database in my SQL editor, I opened the "student_report_card_grades" table and discovered that the final grade I had inputted recognized a 3.0 earned GPA but on a 1.0 scale. As my earlier screenshot has shown, my scale was setup for a 4.0. I even edited the scale value to 4.0 on the "Grade Scales" screen in the website with no luck. However, when I manually overwrote the 1 to a 4 in that database table it then calculated the final grade on the report card correctly. Too add to the complexity, I found if I entered another final grade for that student in another course that the 4.0 did load into that cell in the "student_report_card_grades" table, however, the first one remained set to 1.
I am unsure why this is happening... maybe you can shed some light? Here are my screenshots:
Thank you for the screenshots.
As you have found out, the issue lies in the "Scale Value". You should change it from "1.0" to "4.0" from the Grades > Grading Scales program, "+" tab. Here:
Then, save the final grades again using the Input Final Grades program.
Also, students will never earn credits as your minimum passing grade is too high: "60.00".
While your grading scale's highest grade is of "4.00"...
